USM Haller Barcelona — industrial design and structural development

Engineering solutions for modular and architectural systems

Our collaboration with USM in Barcelona explored new configurations, components and spatial applications. the work combined industrial design, structural logic and detailed engineering to extend the possibilities of the USM Haller system.

AS-2 started as a quiet experiment: to see if the Haller system could move. Its precision was never in doubt; the aim was to let it adapt, to introduce a motion belonging to use rather than assembly.

The work progressed from the inside out, examining the logic of its joints until flexibility emerged as an extension of its internal order. A new connector allows modules to shift or detach without disturbing their geometry. Wheels and feet, set at the same height, let each unit roll or rest without altering its line. Metal sheets and worktops extend the surface into a place for work, for things that happen and move.

The result is a minimal adjustment that alters the system quietly. A retrofittable structure that remains Haller in every sense — only now, alive in time as well.

This project has been developed under an academic context in collaboration with Elisava and USM Haller.
